Director : Raj Babu, Producer : Mahi
Cast : Dileep, Bhavana, Salim Kumar, Ashish Vidyarthi, Bheeman Raghu, Vijaya Raghavan.
With its fast paced action, Chess is played well by Dileep and team although the plot often looked like a repetition yet again.
Story goes like this: Dileep is a son who did not have the opportunity to live with his father though his father was alive and well. By the time he was united with his father, there were people waiting to take away his inheritance by eliminating the will his father made and destroying his mother and him.
While still admitted in the hospital in a serious condition, he starts to plan on getting rid of his adversaries. How he goes about doing this is the focal part of this Dileep thriller. It is in fact this revenge part of the story which keeps audience glued to the film.
Salim Kumar and Harisree Asokan handled the comedy department well. His love for Bhavana who is a doctor fades into oblivion by the finish. Though sub-themes did not strike much with the viewers and script looked abrupt on occasions, overall, the movie has been kept interesting.
Director Raj Babu for whom Chess is his debut film, deserves to be commentated for the unique treatment he has given to it.
5 marks out of 10.
