Change of Reign in Kerala.

With the change of reign in Kerala, come new expectations. During one channel interview, someone from Ernakulam opined that Govt’s change, but our plights don’t change.

VS Achuthanandan and CPM in general with their characteristic style of opposing all things and everything, supposedly for the sake of ordinary people, needs to now realign their thinking a lot towards the modern world where SEZ (special economic zones)’s and FDI (Foreign direct investment) is norm.

It is the children of those ordinary people who aspire to get into an IT job and that’s why they should not oppose Smart city and initiatives such as smart city.

Achuthanandan should adapt to welcoming foreign firms to do business in his state and at the same time provide solace to farmers who end up resorting to suicide due to mounting financial problems as a result of poor yield.

Also, Kannur district always plunges to political violence as soon as left begins to rule. This is to be attributed to their influence in the police force. Such violence also needs to stemmed if it does develop.

It is good news that the much maligned Kunhalikutty and Murali candidates were thrown away by the enlightened Keralites. Murali has now repeated his failure. When he failed first he said “one failure is common”. It is interesting to know what he would say now?

Overall, let us hope for the best from the left.

Is there anyone who criticised bandhs and hartals in Kerala? Know that everybody in Kerala has enjoyed the Bandh on Thursday. Only those who were stranded on roads amid their journey would have scolded the bandh organisers.

Yes, from the English medium student, who has hectic routines including tuition classes even on Sundays, to the ordinary traffic policeman, who inhale the black air on roads and do not normally get enough time for home, have enjoyed bandh like a boon.

And we feel that it was the trees and plants standing near roadsides ‘who’ have enjoyed the bandh the most! They really got a respite from the nuisance of air horns and the roaring sounds of vehicles, which also destroy the eardrums of infants on their way to hospitals for their pulse polio drop.

You speak about economic slowdown caused by such bandhs and hartal. But what about the economic progress bringing diseases along with?

What you earn through economic progress is spent for the treatment of diseases. Findings say that city dwellers are most susceptible to cancer due to its polluted air. You earn much money working hard and spend all your wealth for the treatment of diseases. Is this tolerable?

And even the local townships in Kerala are polluted due to increase in the number of vehicles and resultant traffic jams. Another thing! The bandh has postponed the death of rivers in Kerala for one day. Because it has also stopped the sand lorries.

You very well know that amongst the things that take place illegally in Kerala is illegal sand-mining, which has already sent death sirens for Bharatha River, Kuttiadi River and what not? We strongly feel that all city dwellers must spend at least two day a month in a dense forest to nullify the effect created by pollution. The two days will also calm their mind and body reduces chances of hypertension and diabetes.

Scientists warn of more known and unknown diseases due to increasing in air and water pollution. They have even called upon people to use bicycles to reduce air pollution. And they exhort people to keep their vehicles at home and depend more on public vehicular services like buses. Who cares?

But there is another side to the story. It is a necessity that more people have to die because more people take birth. The Mother Earth has to balance itself to avoid its own destruction.

Unbiased Media!

Some people are in the habit of blaming media for everything. Given a chance, they won’t hesitate to call the Hurricane Katrina as media propaganda!

Today, we request those people to go to the websites of the New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times. Also visit the sites or watch broadcasts from BBC or CNN. The proof is out there. Their coverage is all encompassing.

Yesterday a reporter was heard describing that the people of New Orleans are poor and black skinned in a live interview, suggesting that it may be making a difference in the speed at which aid is being delivered. How can the media become more explicit than that? Criticism of the government’s slow initial response is also widely covered by the media.

You must also compare it with countries where no news will come out whatever happens there.
